Compaction of Soil


The experimental dry unit weight of the soil was determined to be 15.63 kN/M^3 (Figure 1C). This data was then compared to the know range of 14.7-22.6 kN/M^3 for sands and gravels from Table 1. This information corresponds to the assumption that the soil was mostly sand with an estimated Gs of 2.70 which shows that the accuracy and reasonableness of the values obtained in the lab are correct.
